“The accordion may be well represented in Portugese music, but there are few experiences to compare with Danças Ocultas, a quartet of diatonic accordionists and composers who have gathered together to create dramatic, challenging and beautiful music.

The musicians, Artur Fernandes, Filipe Cal, Filipe Ricardo and Francisco Miguel, are united in their love not only of the folkloric music of Portugal, but in the challenges presented in making that music into something new and unique. They have modified instruments in pursuit of new sounds (Fernandes’ bass diatonic is a wonderous sound) and sought out influences from anywhere in the world.”
